Project: Experimental investigation of wetting of rough surfaces

Various aspects of our research project are:

1. Investigation of wetting transitions via contact angle hysteresis, confocal microscopy and high-speed imaging, pressure cells,
2. Modification of surface chemistries, and
3. Data analysis

Expectations:
The candidate should have an advanced degree, MS or PhD, and research experience with experimental techniques, such as photolithography, dry etching, e-beam lithography, Nanoscribe, and III-D printing or chemical methods, such as surface functionalization. Experience with surface characterization tools, including SEM, AFM, FTIR, and XPS and familiarity with physical models for wetting of solids and thin film forces would be a plus.
