Biography

Yash Mohature obtained his BS-MS dual degree in Chemical Sciences from the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Kolkata, India, in June 2025. His academic and research training spans synthetic organic chemistry, organometallic chemistry, molecular catalysis, and mechanistic spectroscopy, with a particular interest in understanding reaction mechanisms and structure–reactivity relationships.

Before joining KAUST, Mohature worked as a Research Project Student at the Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science (IACS), Kolkata, where he investigated biomimetic catalysis using iron porphyrin complexes for small-molecule activation and CO₂ conversion. He also conducted research on photodynamically active Ru(II) and Ir(III) complexes for therapeutic applications during his master's thesis at IISER Kolkata. Currently, he is a Visiting Student Researcher in Prof. Himanshu Mishra’s Interfacial Laboratory (iLab) at KAUST, where his research focuses on interfacial redox chemistry, nitrogen activation at metal–water interfaces, aqueous microdroplet chemistry, and soil–biochar systems for improved water retention and nutrient management.

Research Interests

Interfacial Chemistry, Microdroplet Chemistry, Organometallic Chemistry, Biomimetic Catalysis, Small-Molecule Activation, CO₂ Conversion, Nitrogen Activation, Electrochemistry, Reaction Mechanisms, Reactive Oxygen Species, Soil–Biochar Systems, and Mechanistic Spectroscopy.
